Milens is built so that your photos stay on your iPhone. No photo is ever uploaded. To keep the app working and to understand how it is used, Milens does send some data to a few service providers. This page lists all of it.

1. Who is responsible

Milens is developed and published by Mucahit Sahin, an individual developer based in Bursa, Türkiye. Contact for everything on this page: [email protected].

2. What stays on your iPhone

Your photos and videos, your weigh-ins, measurements, goals and notes, and every reading Milens takes from a photo are stored only on your iPhone. We have no server for this content, so we cannot see it, recover it or delete it for you.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Apple includes Milens' data in that backup. That backup is yours and is controlled by your Apple account.

Starting with version 1.3.1, you can choose to save a copy of the photos and videos you take in Milens to your Photos library. This is off until you turn it on. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple syncs those copies like any other photo in your library.

Starting with version 1.3.1, you can also turn on Copy to my iCloud in Settings. Milens then keeps a copy of your photos and records (weigh-ins, measurements and goals) in your own iCloud account, so you can restore them on a new phone. Apple stores this copy in your account; we cannot access it. It is off until you turn it on.

If you delete Milens and have no backup, this content is gone.

3. Reading your camera roll

With your permission, Milens looks through the photos on your iPhone and brings in the ones with a body in them, so you do not start from an empty app. It may also bring in photos of other people; you can delete any photo that is not you. Photos without a body are not kept. Your originals stay in Photos and are never changed.

The scan and every measurement run on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No photo, and no part of a photo, is sent anywhere, processed on a server or used to train anything.

You can refuse photo library access and add photos yourself instead.

4. What Milens sends, and to whom

Usage analytics (PostHog, United States). Milens sends PostHog a record of how the app is used: which screens are opened, which steps of the setup are completed, whether the subscription screen was shown, and similar events. Each installation is recognised by a random identifier that is created on first launch and kept in your iPhone's Keychain, so it stays the same if you delete and reinstall the app. It is not your name or your Apple ID. PostHog also receives your device model, iOS version, app version, language and your IP address, from which it estimates your country and city.

With these records Milens also sends the answers you give during setup: your sex, age range, body type, goals, which areas you want to change, whether you want to lose or gain weight and roughly how much (in ranges such as 3 to 7 kg), your time frame (also in ranges) and how often you plan to weigh in. Your exact weight and height are never sent. One diagnostic event also contains the remaining distance to your weight goal in kilograms; this event is being removed.

If you installed Milens from an Apple Search Ads advertisement, Apple tells Milens which campaign, ad group and keyword led to the install. Milens stores this with the analytics record. Starting with version 1.3.1, Milens keeps only the broad theme of that ad (for example weight or measuring), never the campaign, ad group or keyword, and only if you allow usage data. To name that theme, Milens downloads a small list from milens.app. The request carries nothing about you; like any web request, Cloudflare sees your IP address to deliver it. This does not involve tracking you across other apps or websites, and Milens shows no ads.

We use all of this only to understand which parts of Milens help people and to improve the app. We do not sell it and do not use it for advertising.

Starting with version 1.3.1, Milens asks before usage analytics start. Analytics then run only if you confirm that you are 18 or older and allow them, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time. Until you answer, Milens only counts which setup screens are opened: without an identifier stored on your phone, without your device details, without your answers and without a profile. If you choose only essential, nothing more is sent.

Crash reports (Sentry, United States). When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, Sentry receives a technical report: what failed, the device model, iOS and app version. Reports contain no photos and no measurements. Sentry keeps them for up to 90 days.

Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat, United States). Apple processes every payment; we never see your payment details. RevenueCat checks whether you have an active subscription. It receives an anonymous customer identifier, your purchase history and, if you came from an Apple Search Ads advertisement, the attribution token Apple provides for that. RevenueCat may also forward purchase events, such as a renewal, to PostHog.

App updates (Expo, United States). Milens downloads small updates from Expo's servers. Expo receives your IP address and the app and device version needed to deliver the right update.

Optional feedback. If you close the subscription screen without subscribing, Milens may ask why. You can pick a reason and, if you want, add a comment and an email address. Your answer is stored in PostHog. An email address is used only to reply to you: never for marketing, never sold, never shared.

Reminders. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. They do not pass through any server. You can turn them off in iOS Settings, Notifications, Milens.

5. The milens.app website

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives your IP address to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from other websites. If you use the feedback form, your name, email and message are passed to us through Cloudflare and used only to answer you.

6. Legal basis

For users in the EU, the UK and similar jurisdictions: purchases, crash reports and app updates are processed because they are necessary to provide the app you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to keep it working and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Usage analytics, including your setup answers, are currently processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving Milens (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); you can object at any time by writing to us. From version 1.3.1 they are based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw in Settings; only the setup screen counts before your answer rely on our legitimate interest. An email address you leave in the feedback prompt or form is processed on the basis of your consent.

7. Transfers outside your country

PostHog, Sentry, RevenueCat and Expo process data in the United States. PostHog, Sentry and Expo are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Where it does not apply, and for RevenueCat, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long data is kept

Content on your iPhone stays until you delete it or the app. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days. Analytics records are kept only as long as we need them to understand how Milens is used; you can ask us to delete yours at any time. Feedback emails are kept until the conversation is finished.

9. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, and you can object to its use. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to [email protected]. Because we do not know who you are, we may ask for a detail that lets us find your data. We reply within one month. From version 1.3.1 you can also delete your analytics data directly in Milens' Settings.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one in the country where you live.

10. Children

Milens is not intended for children under 13. We do not want to collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe we hold data about a minor, write to us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

When Milens changes what it collects, this page changes first, and the date at the top shows when. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
